About Me

Hello I am Melinda and this is my family, my husband Joe and my son Noah!  We are blessed to have Noah as a part of our family because of adoption.  We were listed with an agency for 2 years before we started to network on our own and listing our profile on several on-line matching site.  That is when Noah's birth mother found us and contacted us.  We traveled across the country for the birth of Noah.  We were blessed enough to be at the hospital for the delivery of him and I was doubly blessed to be in the delivery room when he was born.  Two days after his birth Noah was placed in our care by the selfless act of his birth mother.  We have an amazing open relationship with Noah's birth mother and her family, but it hasn't happened over night.  It has taken work on all of our parts.  It is not always an easy path for open adoption but I promise you it is worth it.  When something amazing happens in our life or something sad even non Noah related they are among the first to know.
It all sounds so easy and wonderful right; but the road to adopt Noah was anything but an easy road.  So many times we felt alone and to unsure how to handle alot of the emotions and feels we were having before, during and after Noah's birth.  You always question if you should have made a right when you made a left.  There are decisions that you will second guess, well for a long time.  The 3 days in the hospital were 3 of the most emotional draining days of highs and lows.  Not only for us as adoptive parents but as people seeing the emotions his birth mother was dealing with.  I swore once our adoption was finalized that I would do anything I could to help other adoptive families, and be a support to them.

I am not going to promise to fix everything and know the answers to everything.  But I do promise to be there to support you in anyway I can.  If it is to help you talk things out with someone who won't judge or be an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on.  Adoption is by far the hardest thing I have ever done but the first time I was called mommy by my son it all was worth it.

I am the co-founder of the Site What To Expect Adoption Support  you can find us on facebook and instagram.
